IAD/Dacians Character Guide

This character guide covers Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series, and the spin-off series, the Dacians.

- The Lore -

Every creature or being that was thought to be mythical . . . isn’t.

They all secretly exist alongside humans and enjoy the gift of immortality. There are hundreds of different kinds: from Vampires to Lykae, from Furies to Shifters, from the Fey to Valkyries.  And that is just the beginning…

- Berserkers -

Stronger and faster than mere mortals, they carry within them the spirit of the bear and can channel its ferocity into a berserkrage, temporarily becoming as powerful as an immortal. When a berserker wins his two hundredth battle in Wóden’s name, the god will grant him ohalla—immortality with untold strength.

Aidan the Fierce – killed by Vampires

Declan Chase – re-incarnated Aidan the Fierce

Brandr the True

- The Sorceri -

Of all the species in the Lore, their kind is most often abducted and held captive. Their sacred duty is to keep the existence of the Lore from human kind, but that has left them judgmental and somewhat pious. Because of their dragon-like wings, they were able to make their home in the air territories, which were massive floating islands above the clouds. Natural enemies of the Sorceri. Now considered to be a branch of the Demonarchy.

  1. This is a great compilation! Thanks for your efforts in putting it together.

  2. Wonderful list… Perfect for people who love Vampire series but cannot remember all the juicy and memorable characters.

  3. Wow…this is great! i’ve borrowed a few of your character descriptions….don’t worry…i’ve added your website addy as my source so others know where to come…..i’m still stuck on descriptions for Conrad, Kristoff, Cara&Furie and Uilleam&Munro…..any help would be great….my email addy is kirstyhxoxo@hotmail.com

    • Hm, I think I went pretty much through all the books, and I don’t think the ones you mentioned have all that detailed descriptions. I do update as subsequent books come out, so keep checking back.

  4. I finally got to the page. LOL. I was looking under the actual author pages, so I was in the wrong place. Love this character guide idea. I also like how you put it on the right-hand side on the home page so that it’s spotted immediately. Thanks for all you hard work!

    • Thanks, Lea. Part of me loves the drop down menus, but they can still be a pain, so hopefully the right hand side buttons will help. I added them to the main site page, as well.

There is a character you missed in the M section.
Mei, the woman who told Holly about her boyfriend using her.
She took over her class after Holly left.

add her please, then the list is even more complete!
And many thanks for the list. It’s nice to have an overview.

Thanks Arithra. I added Mei, and her boyfriend Scott. Not sure I how I missed them. thanks for the heads up.

  7. wow, this is quite complete. you’ve done an amazing work. now with the coming up of Lothaire’s book, he’s gonna be red too :)) I hope you continue to add to these characters as the IAD world builds up. I appreciate very much what you do here. THANK YOU!

    • Thanks very much, kit. I do enjoy doing them, even if it sometimes takes me a while to get caught up when a new release comes up. I can’t wait for Lothaire, either!

  8. Lothaire “Leo” Daciano needs to be updated.
    Nephew of Demestriu(Fyodor) and Helen
Son of Ivana the Bold (Dacia) and Setefanovich (Horde)
    Half Brother to Kristoff
Cousin to Kosmina, Trehan, Stelian, Viktor, Mirceo, and Emmaline.
    Grandson of Serghei Daciano.
    Mated to Elizabeth “Ellie” Peirce

    Elizabeth Daciano
    Bride to Lothaire Daciano.
Former flesh and blood housing for Saroya

  9. This was great. I reviewed it. My copy of the book should be coming today

    • I am jealous. It does give me some time to get my current book finished before it lands, though, so that is good.

  10. Thanks for this, Kaleigha. it’s been invaluable for me in doing my pinboard for the series. Hugs!

  11. The Valkyrie triplets, Kaderin, Rika, and Dasha have green eyes. Not brown.

    • Hey Erin…I did a double check. In No Rest For the Wicked, Sebastian describes Kaderin as “an angel come to set him free. She looked it. Her long, curling hair was so blond it appeared almost white in the candlelight. Her eyes were fringed with thick black lashes and were dark like coffee, a striking contrast to her fair hair and wine-red lips. Her skin was flawless, light golden perfection, and her features were delicate and finely wrought.” Since I wasn’t sure if the sisters were identical or fraternal, I was hesitant to put a description down for them. Thanks for checking it out.

I love that you added more characters for Shadow’s Claim. Thank you. You do such an amazing job with your Character Guides. Are there anymore that you will be working on soon and which series?

Will you do Lynsay Sands Aregeaneau/Rogue Hunter???????
I really would love to have those Character Guides.

    • Thanks, Robin. I wasn’t sure if I should add Shadow’s Claim to this one or give it its own, but this way seemed better.
I haven’t read any of the Rogue Hunter books yet, so that one might be a ways off. I do have a few in the works, though. My main project is doing the Breeds, plus I have started one for The Mortal Instruments, the Fever series, and Gena Showalter’s new Otherworld Assassin book.

      • Robin vonKleist said:

Wow, Are you talking about Lora Leighs “The Breed’s”. That is a large series. I can’t wait to read the “Fever series” also. If I get time, I will put my character stats together and send them to you if you want which might help out. My favorite is Back Dagger Brotherhood and I have all their stats. Love those warriors. I also have Lara Adrians Midnight Breed series.

      • Hey Robin…that sounds great, if you don’t mind. I appreciate all help. Yep, I am on story 16 for Lora Leigh’s Breeds, so more than half done. I am looking forward to the Fever books, too (read the first one, and really enjoyed it).

    Kaleigha

Is Cara & Furie identical twins????

I am getting ready to read the series and putting a portfolio of photos together.

    • Hey Robin…

I never did find out if they were identical or fraternal – probably won’t find out for sure until Furie’s story comes around. It was like Kaderin and her sisters, since we never heard if they were identical triplets or not. Hope you enjoy the books – they are some of my favorites of all time!

      • Robin vonKleist said:

I am so excited about finally getting to them. Your Character stats saved me a lot of time, lol. I am working on getting a few together for you to help out. Of course they would have to be sent to you personally so you can add them the way that is comfortable for you.

I am on Kerrelyn Sparks last book till her novella comes out next week. Wild About You is a cute story of our were-bear Howard.

      • Hey Robin…that’s great. Thanks.

  14. just to say….i love wat ur doing, me and my bad memory :P

    • kaleigha said:

Thanks…It really is sad when I thinkI remember what happened in a book… until I go back for the re-read and realize I didn’t remember anything!

  15. Wow! This list is incredible and so appreciated! Good work! Happy reading!

  16. Are there any characters of color in this series?

    • kaleigha said:

Hmm, off of the top of my head, I can’t think of any. There might be some secondary characters, but most of the main characters are straight Caucasian.

    • Robin vonKleist said:

If you want to read series of characters of color, you can read:
      1) Midnight Breed by Lara Adrian – Savannah
      2) JR Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood – Trez and iAm (secondary characters starting book 6 and her other series Fallen Angels book 2 Isaac Roth
      3) Christine Feehan;’s Dark series
      4) Sherrilyn Kenyon’s The League series – Dancer Hauk

There are more but I can’t remember them right now. But all the series above are fantastic as I am sure Kal will agree with me.

      • kaleigha said:

They are great – and I would throw in Christine Feehan’s Ghostwalkers and Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changelings.

  17. LOVE this listing! Thank you! Just finished all the books and am anxiously awaiting MacRieve!!

  18. what about Lanthe im excited for her and Thronos book next spring!!

  19. I love this kind of stuff. Only problem I saw was in the Lore section Demestriu and Ivo were marked as forebearers.

  20. thank you for this.

  21. I know I’m late to the party, but I just found this guide, and it’s great! I’m dying to know which is the next character who’ll get his/her story told now (and man, can’t wait ’till August for Dark Skyes! This one has been a long time coming, no?)

    • Thanks! I would like to know what is next, too. Any word of the next Dacians book disappeared, which is strange.

      • Frankly, I wish Ms Cole’s website was more informative. The Latest News section? There were only five posts during the whole of 2013!

I understand that some decisions are out of her control–if her publisher decided not to buy more Dacian books, for example–but it would help immensely to know these things instead of being kept in the dark.

      • kaleigha said:

Oooh, non-updated author websites? Infuriate me to no end. I think I read somewhere that a lot of authors have people who take care of their websites for them, and have to pay for the updating, but then that is were blogging comes in. If a total tool like me can figure out how to blog, anyone can.

      • And anyone can connect a blog to a website these days, so it’s not like she had to have totally separate domains/sites. But it’s all about priorities–I don’t know how many books per year Ms Cole is putting out, but writing on three genres, her attention is probably a wee bit divided.

  22. sorry but i think Sebastian Wroth is third of the four Wroth brothers and Conrad is youngest Wroth brother. By the way, this list’s so great

  23. kaleigha said:

Nope, not twins. NIcholai is oldest, then Murdoch. Conrad is third, and finally Sebastian.
